Pastors for Peace and the Covid-19 Crisis. https://www.facebook.com/events/310360750007267/
The annual IFCO/Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba visit to Carbondale was postponed because of the COVID-19 crisis, but Pastors for Peace continues to organize in opposition to the US economic blockade of Cuba and in support of truly normal relations between the US and Cuba.
This includes supporting the Savings Lives campaign for medical collaboration with Cuba during this pandemic. The ZOOM event will bring information about Cuba’s successful response to the pandemic. Our local moderator is Dennis Leitner.
The P4P presenters are Emily Thomas, who first went to Cuba with a group of teachers in 1978. On her second trip she met Rev. Raul Suarez; who was then building the Martin Luther King Center – and the rest is history. Stephanie Sarantos is a former registered nurse who now works as a founder and staff member at The Clearwater School near Seattle. She became a strong advocate for the people of Cuba through traveling on several Pastors for Peace Caravans.
Learn more about Cuba’s successful response to the pandemic.
⦁ Hear how Cuba has been sending its doctors to countries around the world to fight COVID-19 and would be prepared to send them to the US too.
⦁ Learn about Cuban life under the US blockade during this COVID-19 time.
⦁ Hear about Pastors for Peace’s Faith in Action initiative: to work with people of faith, both here and in Cuba, as we respond to the theology of dominion imposed by the Christian Nationalists with a theology of love.
The program will last 90 minutes, including Q & A
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. The event is a fundraiser for IFCO/Pastors for Peace.
